Sculptor, Salvatore Russo

Interviewing award-winning Stromboli artist, Salvatore Russo, withe the RED GEMINI. Salvatore sculpts faces out of the island’s volcanic rock.

In 2009, he was walking along the beach when he realized he could make out faces in the volcanic rocks, faces that the volcano and the sea had given them. So he decided to take them home and sculpt those faces more clearly. For Salvatore, every rock has its own story and feelings, and he handles them with much care.
